Good-morning and happy Friday. I’m here with more daily eats for ya! Lately, I’ve noticed that I’ve had more of an appetite earlier in the day and by evening, all I was are familiar foods. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Before we dive in… I want to preface this post by saying that this post is NOT for comparison – to compare your eats to mine. Rather, these posts have always been and will always be about inspiration.
Inspiration surrounding: new ideas around food; freedom with food; and trusting that YOU can listen to YOUR body and what feels good for you, as I listen to mine and do what feels right for me.
If these posts are triggering for you in any way, please dive into these posts instead.
Tuesday morning started off with eggs and toast, followed by a walk with my friend Jess and her sweet babe (and miss Abby, of course).
When I got home from the walk I was hungry. I ate the last quarter of my burger from the night before to hold me over while I showered and changed. See, awkward amounts of leftovers make great snacks.
After my shower I snacked on an apple while I heated up leftover pasta for lunch.
I ate about half this pasta in that sitting and the other half about an hour later after I did some work (my stomach seemed to fill up fast at lunch this day).
Later in the day, we went out to run some errands. We took our friends dog a little gift/treats, visited with them, and then had to do a grocery run (we were out of pretty much everything).
Before the grocery store I started feeling super nauseated. I told Marco I had to get a snack before we went into the store or I thought I’d vomit (fun stuff). The ONLY thing that sounded good was exactly one crunchy taco from Taco Bell. So, crunchy taco it was! So good and so hit the spot. Just what I needed. He wasn’t mad that he got some TB to snack on either 😉
I made it through grocery shopping with M (the grocery store has been rough while pregnant) and when we got home, I laid down for a bit and drank some OJ to try and feel better. When I was up for it, I got up to make dinner. Caesar salad from a kit and pizza (easy!).
It did the trick. We had our Caesar salad first while the pizza cooked, and then a few slices of pizza afterward. Hawaiian for me (sounded good!) and pepperoni for M.
Wednesday morning I woke up feeling a bit nauseated again. I made some cereal (Sunrise Crunchy Honey from Nature’s Path – yum!) with whole milk. I ate about 3/4 of it and then needed to stop.
After breakfast I went for a long walk with Jess and her baby girl. When I got home, I sat, sipped water for a bit, showered, and then had a cutie.
Before I went up to my office to work, I made an egg on sourdough sandwich. There were two halves just like this that I ate (but I forgot to take a photo before I ate one of them, whoops!). This held me over for a few hours.
I finished up work about three (this was a non-client day) and made a veggie sandwich for lunch. It sounded so good. This is exactly like the veggie sandwich my friend Corrine (who is also preggo) and I got at the lake on Monday. Soooo good. I ate a few of the carrots with ranch and Fritos – M ate the rest. I ate 1.5 of the sandwiches (made two because the bread is tiny) and finished the other half a little bit later on.
After lunch M and I went to Home Depot. We hung blackout curtains in our bedroom (omg, what a difference). While there, I spotted sour patch kids. If you follow me on Insta @paigeschmidt you may have seen that I have been loving these! I had a few, slowly. I take my time with these guys. One at a time, suck the sour off first, then roll them around slowly in my mouth. By the time I could get to my 4th I think Marco had enjoyed the rest (ha!).
Side note: intuitive eating blessing – it does not stress me out to share special teats like this because I am certain that I am allowed to have more, anytime I want them. So, if M finishes them, it’s no big deal. Ask me 10 years ago, that would’ve been a big deal (ha!).
For dinner, similar to the night before, we started with a caesar salad kit. Caesar salad is about the only salad that I want at home right now. If someone else makes me a salad, or I get one out, I’m way more adventurous. But to make it myself, this is about what I can wrap my brain around.
And for dinner, I made us ramen bowls. THIS has tasted SO good this week. In mine: one packet of ramen (yes, Top Ramen, chicken flavor). Once the ramen is cooked I keep it boiled and add one egg. I cook it for a couple of minutes until it’s poached. I add 1 tsp of butter (it makes the broth creamy!) and then I load up the bean sprouts on top. Holy heavens. Yes. Soooo good. Marco has his totally plain. He does not like me to mess with his Top Ramen (ha!).
Thursday morning started off with an early wake up to shower, get ready, and go to the doctor for my 13 week ultrasound (yay!). Before we left, I made us eggs and toast (mine, sandwich style). Plus, I had two cuties. I ate most of this but had to leave some of the bread behind (it was too much).
Ah, seeing baby girl was so special. Here’s one photo I wanted to share with you all, because it looked like she was sucking her thumb! So sweet. When we first started the ultrasound she was doing little belly bounces. As we kept going, she relaxed into a cozy little position with her hands tucked up right into her face, probably sucking her thumb (so crazy they can do that at 13 weeks!). Sooo sweet. I love her so much already.
When we got home I had a cutie and OJ. I was feeling nauseated again so I laid down for an hour.
Before my coaching calls started, I had some ramen (same as the night before) and it totally hit the spot. Made some for M too, but without the fancy stuff ;).
Throughout the day, I worked, coached my clients, and laid down to rest in between when I had a break. I also made this veggie sandwich mid-day which tasted so good. A few Fritos on the side for extra crunch.
I wrapped up work around 6:30 and made another bowl of ramen for dinner. I asked myself if anything else sounded good and this was it. So, though it felt weird to be eating the same thing repeatedly, I told myself “It’s okay. This is just what feels good right now.” It was delicious and I was happy.
After dinner I laid down and watched the rest of a movie I was finishing up (Love Guaranteed on Netflix) and then dove into The Home Edit to get my organizing fix. Have you seen it? I liked it… but I like Marie Kondo “Tidying Up” even more.
That’s it for this weeks daily eats! I’ll likely continue to document through the weekend and post more eats next week (you seem to be into them!).
I’m curious, where are you located and what’s life like where you are right now? With COVID, for example… are you going back to working in person? Still working from home? Are the kids home? Back in school? How are you doing? If you have a second, leave a comment. I’d love to hear!
