Good-morning! I’m here to share a few days of eats with you, along with photos from our very sweet and small gender reveal this weekend.
Do you know what our baby’s gender is yet? Did you see on Instagram? If not, take a quick guess silently in your mind before you scroll!
Before we dive in… I want to preface this post by saying that this post is NOT for comparison – to compare your eats to mine. Rather, these posts have always been and will always be about inspiration.
Inspiration surrounding: new ideas around food; freedom with food; and trusting that YOU can listen to YOUR body and what feels good for you, as I listen to mine and do what feels right for me.
If these posts are triggering for you in any way, please dive into these posts instead.
Friday morning started off with two over-medium eggs on toast (yum) and a walk with my friend Jess and her daughter.
A couple of hours later (after our walk and a shower) I made a chicken and veggie sandwich on a french roll: leftover rotisserie chicken, mayo, mustard, shredded lettuce, tomato, avocado, pepperoncini, pickles, and olives. Basically as much as I could squish in there 😉
After lunch, I got to work (Friday was a client day). In between clients in the afternoon, I had leftover chicken enchiladas with Tapatio and avocado on top. Yum!
Just before my last client of the day I was hungry but only had a few minutes to eat. So I grabbed a sourdough bread roll, avocado, hummus and olives and nibbled on a little bit of this before my call (just enough to tide me over until I could make dinner).
A couple of hours later I had a ramen bowl (pre-made from Costco, so good!). Hit the spot.
I topped that off with some ice cream for dessert.
And within the hour still felt hungry. So I munched on some cucumber while I made a small quesadilla – about the only thing left in the fridge to cook.
Saturday morning started off an egg sandwich before a long walk with my girlfriends and our pups/babies at the beach.
I was super hungry by the time I got home and heated up a bowl of veggie soup topped with avocado and sour cream (plus some Siete chips for crunch) for lunch.
After lunch, I had to run to Target to grab a few things for the house. While there, I spotted a bag of sour-patch kids and yum! The sweet/sour tasted so good. I enjoyed these through the afternoon.
In the late afternoon, my friend Brittany came over to visit and have some girl time. Just before she got there, I knew I needed to eat something so I could continue feeling good through our visit (if I get too hungry, I get nauseous). This was the case before pregnancy, but is less bearable now.
I had a small end piece of sourdough with tomato and provolone cheese. Plus, mayo and mustard. This did the trick to hold me over. While we hung out, we sipped on strawberry and grapefruit Perrier.
For dinner, I worked up the courage to cook some ground beef (haven’t enjoyed cooking beef lately, but it was sounding good) and made a bolognese.
In the pasta:
- 1 box of rigatoni
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 full zucchini
- 1 jar marinara sauce (garlic)
- topped with parmesan cheese and avocado
Yum! Super yummy and made great leftovers. I cooked the beef and zucchini separately while the pasta boiled, heated up the marinara sauce, and then mixed it all together. Added a handful of chopped parsley at the end.
For dessert I had a small bowl of strawberry basil sheep milk ice cream from a local ice cream shop called Negranti (it’s so good).
Sunday was the day of the gender reveal. I woke up so excited. We ate breakfast (eggs and toast) before we left, even though we knew the gender reveal would be brunch. I get hungry far too early these days to wait.
It was set up so cute. My friends Caitlin and Corrine did such a sweet job. I’m totally the type to say “Oh, we don’t have to make a big deal of it, we’ll just find out!” They made it special with a few friends, and I’m so grateful!
For brunch we had biscuits and gravy, quiche, fruit, bacon, and sausage. Sooo yum.
For the reveal, they had us stand in the front yard while our other friends formed two parallel lines leading up to us. We didn’t know how they were going to do the reveal, but my heart was so excited to find out.
They ended up doing it so cute! The tied ribbon to Abby’s color that would be either pink or blue, and let her out the front door, knowing that surely she would run STRAIGHT to us with mega excitement. That she did!
We cheered with emotion and excitement as we discovered her ribbon was PINK and it was going to be a girl! I would have been thrilled either was, but I’ve had the deepest gut feeling since the moment I found out that it was a girl, so it was so fun to confirm that!
I love seeing the progression of Marco’s face in these photos as the news set in. First, “Oh gosh!” to “Okay, wow, this is happening!” to “Okay, I’ve got this!” He’s going to be the best girl dad. I cannot wait.
I told him it’s a good thing he’s always liked to hangout with the girls ’cause his house is about to be FULL of them – me, Abby, baby!
SUCH a fun way to find out such happy news. Truly one of the most anticipated and special moments of our lives together.
Love this guy and am so grateful to continue to build a life with him and for our kids.
We spent the rest of the day at the pool and ended at Tortilla Town for dinner (super similar to Chipotle). I didn’t snap a photo of my food, but just imagine a Chipotle burrito with pinto beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, carne asada, and salsa). That was dinner. With a few chips and salsa. Yum!
Monday started off with a quick bite of eggs and toast before we took off for the lake. We spent the day at Lake Naciemento with the same friends who put together our reveal. We had a great time!
Nothing feels better to me right now that sun, movement, and swimming!
We picked up sandwiches to eat while we were there – I wish I got a photo! Sandwich was: wheat bread, pesto aioli, cucumber, tomato, avocado, spinach, pepperoncini and provolone. It. was. so. good. Also had a snack bag of sea salt and vinegar chips, a string cheese, and a couple pieces of salami and cheese.
For dinner, we ate at Streetside on the patio. I ordered a side salad with blue cheese (yum!) to start, and had a couple chips with guacamole.
For dinner, I had 3/4 of this burger and shared the fries with Marco. It was so good. I saved the last quarter for a snack the next day (awkward amounts of leftovers make the best snacks!).
That’s it for our weekend eats and gender reveal! Did you guess right, boy or girl?! Thank you so much for celebrating and following along with us. It’s been soo fun to share with you all.
Are there any post requests around pregnancy? More daily eats? What would you like to see next on the blog? I’d love to hear in the comments.
