Eats from the Weekend and Chili Cookoff in Reno
Hey you!
Welcome, and happy Monday! Today I’m here to share eats with you from this past weekend.
Before we dive in… I want to preface this post by saying that this post is NOT for comparison – to compare your eats to mine. Rather, these posts have always been and will always be about inspiration.
Inspiration surrounding: new ideas around food; freedom with food; and trusting that YOU can listen to YOUR body and what feels good for you, as I listen to mine alongside you.
If these posts are triggering for you in any way, please dive into these posts instead.
Friday
Breakfast – Two eggs over-medium and two end pieces of sourdough with Kerrygold butter. Yum!
A couple of hours after breakfast I had a small bowl of chicken tortilla soup. It was the last of the leftovers we had and carried me over until I could make myself a nice lunch.
Lunch – I ate a late lunch of this turkey wrap with a sprouted grain tortilla, mayo, provolone cheese, turkey, avocado, and arugula. Simple and delicious! Carried me well over to dinner as I ran errands, took Abby for a walk, and wrapped up work.
Dinner – For dinner we had friends over, drank wine, played with baby Brayden, and ate chicken, rice, broccoli, and avocado bowls. Mmm!
Saturday
Breakfast – Saturday morning started off with a bowl of brown rice with olive oil drizzled over the top, sprinkled with sea-salt. Mm! So savory and hearty.
After breakfast I had a Zoom call with the women of The Growth Vault! It was such a great time of connecting, talking through holiday boundaries, and supporting one another.
Lunch – After the call I made myself a wrap for lunch. We were about to head to the chili cook off at the GSR here in Reno soon… but I was hungry then. So I listened to my hunger and had something to eat (I gave half of this to Marco).
When we got to the GSR we met our friends at California Pizza Kitchen. The cookoff didn’t start for another hour and I guess they were hungry too! 🙂 There, I ordered two tequila-grapefruits and shared this slice of pizza with Marco. (A friend offered it up to us.)
Lot’s of chili cookoffs going on in Reno right now! Marco and I shared this mac n’ cheese and this sample of chili…
…and each ate a taco. Perfectly filling! It was pretty windy out, so we all went back into the GSR and hung at a wine bar for another hour or so. Such a fun day!
When Marco and I got home we climbed into bed and took a mid-day nap. Around 5:00 I made myself half a turkey sandwich with just turkey, mustard, mayo, and a slice of sourdough. Just needed something to coat my hungry stomach.
For dinner, I forgot to take a photo, but I had a bowl of chicken, rice, and broccoli leftover from Friday night.
Sunday
Breakfast – Two eggs, over-medium with a slice of sourdough toast before Church.
After Church my friend Jenn and I stayed for their chili cookoff. We tried lots of different chili in little sample cups (sooo good!) that probably amounted to a full bowl of chili after Church (no pics – didn’t have my phone).
Lunch – A wrap on a sprouted grain tortilla with cream cheese, pesto, turkey, provolone, arugula, sprouts, pickles, deli jalapenos and sliced pepperoncini’s. Yummm this was so good! I “toasted” this by heating it all in a pan while I was adding layers of toppings. Mmm-mmm good! Marco had one too.
After lunch I sat down with half a GoMacro bar and a cup of coffee while I went through our mail.
Dinner – Carne Asada burritos from La Michoacana in Reno, with friends, while watching football together. Sooo good. I’d been craving a burrito for days!
All in all, it was a great weekend in Reno spent with friends, per usual. Feeling very blessed and grateful for the community we have here!
I hope you have a great week, and I’ll see you back here Thursday or Friday 🙂
