Visualizing your future self can help you make better decisions today. This week on the Aligned with Paige Schmidt podcast we’re talking about why it’s worth it to consider your future self. In this episode Paige talks about not getting it perfectly, allowing for your own humanness, and giving yourself (and others) lots of grace along the way.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget about what we want for our lives. But when we visualize our future selves, it helps us stay focused on what really matters. Our brains are wired to think more positively about the future than they do about the present, so seeing yourself as that person is a great way to motivate yourself into taking action now.
If you take just 5 minutes each morning before work or school to visualize your ideal life – where you live, who you spend time with, how much money you have – then those thoughts will be at the forefront of your mind and will influence how you act throughout the day.
You’ll start making choices that move toward achieving those goals and showing up as the YOU you want to be instead of wasting time on things that don’t matter in 10 years from now.
