Intentional Living & Spontaneous Enjoyment

Living a balanced life is all about finding the right mix of intention and spontaneity. Being intentional gives you a sense of purpose and direction, while being spontaneous allows you to enjoy the moment and savor the small things in life. The key is to find a balance between the two so that you can maximize your calm and joy.

Intentionality and rigidity are not synonyms. They truly do not mean the same thing.

By planning your upcoming day the day before, you are setting yourself up well to feel tomorrow how you like to. Which for most of us, would inculde a day were there isn’t just structure to get done necessities but wiggle room for things we enjoy, too!

Being intentional turns a “normal” day into a more satisfying and fulfilling day. I’ve come to find it’s in those small moments (being present in them) that make up a memorable lifetime. A richer life. It’s not the fancy vacations, the big promotions but rather, the permission we give ourselves to enjoy sunshine on our back on a walk or to experience contagious joy watching a child giggle as they splash and discover the wonder of water at a splash park. Intentionality allows us to feel like we have the time to savor these spontaneous moments of joy.

Do you agree? That when we are intentional about how we spend our time, we are allowing ourselves to have the time to be present and enjoy and engage in small but profoundly amazing little moments throughout our day? Have you noticed this to be true in your own life?

Intentionality helps support us in how we want to feel today and tomorrow.

In what area can you be a bit more intentional to plan your time, so rushing can be eliminated and thus, you can have time to notice beautiful moments around you, as well as have time to do hobbies you love?
