Overnight OIAJ- (Oats in a Jar!!)
February 28, 2012
Good morning world! Hope you all slept so great! I got a great night’s sleep. Finally! The past few nights have been hard because my brain wants to be turbo all night!
I had such a sweet morning today, and I just want to encourage all of you to wake up a little bit earlier, each day, to start your day off with some time to yourself.
Do whatever YOU want. Personally, I love getting out a couple devotionals, reading through them, and then going to my desk and writing in my journal. Now, you can journal however you want, and no way is wrong, but my favorite way to journal is to write the things that I am feeling thankful for. Also, to start my day writing thanks ahead of time, for the great day I know is sure to come (there are blessings everywhere). It just starts my day off so right, and I can see the difference when I don’t do this.
One thing I do not like to do, which I did this morning, is make a to-do list.
Can you believe that? I woke up, rolled out of bed, and made a to-do list before my quiet time.
Thats when you know I am feeling overwhelmed, and that’s exactly when I should throw that list out the window!
I know that if I follow my heart and my little passions all throughout the day, that I am going to get everything done that needs to get done. I trust in that completely. So, to-do list. Meet the trashcan!
For breakfast today, I had an old favorite that I have not had in so long. Overnight Oats in a Jar!
The last post I did with OIAJ, was with Sunflower Butter. This time, our Peanut Butter jar is gone. YES!
Everything about this breakfast was perfect, perfect, perfect. I want to shout it from the mountain tops!
And, you know what I discovered? I LOVE greek yogurt in cold oatmeal, but not hot. Those are my taste-buds, not yours, so try both and choose for yourself 🙂
These Overnight Oats were born like so (recipe from Kath! Thank you Kath!):
-
In an almost empty PB jar mix together
- 1/3 cup Oats
- 1/3 cup vanilla almond milk
- 1/3 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp. chia seeds
- 1/2 sliced banana
- a few shakes of cinnamon
- Let this sit in your fridge overnight, and enjoy in the morning!
-
When you wake up, add a couple toppings
- I added 1 tbsp. granola, and 1 tsp. raisins (just enough for the texture)
Love Me, I’m the best- Coffee
Love Me. The best friend- Overnight OIAJ
Hmmmm…. are these guys competing for my love this morning?
Love Me. I’m the best friend You’ve got. -God
Just to be fair…. I think I will go for this one, instead of choosing between the two 🙂
