The Little Things

Tuesday

Yesterday morning, as I went to grab my Coffee cup, I thought about how I always love doing small things that bring me joy. The simplest things like picking a cup that I like to look at, lighting a candle while I do homework, getting in my PJ’s in the middle of the day while I work, etc.. Of course, I have the luxury of doing that 🙂

But always do things that make you happy. The small things really do add up!

Breakfast: bran flakes + organic raisins + organic rice milk+ local organic honey

The second happy thing of the day that I did was get out my journal and write a few goals for the next several years. Actually, I am not even sure if I would call these goals. They were more like visions of what I saw realistically happening in my life for the next 5-7 years. It felt really good to look at that paper and see where I saw my life headed. It gave me a sense of motivation and purpose 🙂

Around lunchtime, I got really hungry, but couldn’t get into the cupboards or the fridge, so I grabbed a banana from our fruit basket. Our kitchen was all sandwiched together because my brother, his girlfriend Haley, and my Dad are all working on putting wood floors in our house. That’s why you may have noticed some really ugly flooring on my blog recently. We haven’t had any floor for the past few months!

I got to hangout with little Harper for most of the afternoon yesterday, and we had a lot of fun 🙂

While I was there, I made some food from her house.

Fresh tamale from the farmers market with green sauce… Mmm!

And a small piece of gluten free banana bread that her Mom made… soooo good! She even used raw coconut crystals instead of brown sugar! I also enjoyed just a few gluten-free animal crackers… Sweet tooth- totally satisfied!

She sent me the recipe today, so hopefully I’ll be able to get to cookin’ soon and post the recipe for you all!

Throughout the day Harper + I played hide n’ seek, colored, painted, picked strawberries, and rode the John Deree Tracker. Yep! She’s got one! How cute is it?

When I got off yesterday evening, I came home and threw together some healthy nachos

Sweet potato chips, quinoa, vegan cheese, pesto sauce, and salsa. Holy yum! The pesto was good!

After I ate, I did some work until Marco came over

He brought me flowers! When he walked in I rambled off some pretty obvious words, haha. I was in shock!
Me: “Are those for me?!”
Him: “No babe, they’re for your Mom.”
Me: “I didn’t feel like I deserved flowers today! I swear, my first thought was: did his grandma buy me those?”
Haha! Nice way to receive flowers, right? There was a nice homeless man selling them when Marco was on his way to my house, so he stopped and gave the man $10 in exchange for these beauties. They are sittin’ pretty in my room and I love looking at them! Another little thing that made me very happy!

Before we went on our run last night, I made us faux blenders “The Peanut Butter” smoothies. They were sooo healthy, and so good! Even the health-weary Marco agreed!
Inside:
Rice milk
1 banana
2 tbsp. organic peanut butter
1 tbsp. raw cacoa powder
1 tbsp. flaxseed
handful of ice
Our run was great! I can’t say it enough, I love running with him! It makes it so much more fun! After our run, we jacuzzied. Best way to end our nights lately!
SORRY THE END OF THIS POST IS SO SQUISHED 🙁
Love, Paige
