The Skinny Confidential Book Review

The Skinny Confidential: A Babe’s Sexy, Sassy Health and Lifestyle Guide

Today I’ve got a book review for you.

Let me start by saying: I don’t review books often, because I don’t finish books often. I’ve got a had habit of opening, and not finishing. Anyone with me?

I get super excited about a book, pick it up, start reading… and then something happens where I just don’t pick it up again.

Not Lauryn’s book. I read her book all the way through in two times of sitting down.

When Lauryn’s book came in the mail I took myself on a little coffee shop date. This was so nice! I brought TSC book, my J. Crew catalog, my iPad & treated myself to a strawberry cream green tea soy latte — such a delicious treat.

This was the perfect place to read  Lauryn’s book. I felt as if she and I were chatting over coffee as I read. Her writing is so easy-going & casual.

Lauryn did what some authors might be scared to do. She kept it casual, to the point, and totally authentic.

If you want to know what Lauryn’s book will read like, head over to her blog. She uses the same “lingo” in her book — which I like, because that’s Lauryn being authentically herself. We all need a little permission to be authentically ourselves.

Things I love about The Skinny Confidential, the book:

  • it’s fun to read
  • Lauryn is a no-calorie-counting kinda girl
  • she promotes balance
  • she provides tons of practical, fun, DIY style tips for hair, makeup, skin, fashion, etc…
  • she talks about eating with your BF (this is a huge stumbling block for so many women, and Lauryn shows you that it doesn’t have to be)
  • she gives great, simple recipes
  • she promotes strength training along with some cardio
  • she’s real, she’s honest, and she’s relatable
  • you leave the book feeling inspired to try a new hairstyle, stick chocolate chips in your raspberries, and start your morning off with a green juice (and hopefully get your BF to enjoy some too)
  • not only that, but you leave feeling happy to be authentically yourself

Plus, you can’t ignore the fact that this book is too cute to sit around the office after you read it. I love books that make my bookshelf exciting!

PSSST. And because I promised, here’s the question for next weeks video. Make sure you’re signed up to get them!

Hi Paige,

A question for your upcoming videos: I eat well (healthy and the proper portion sizes) on a regular basis, but when I attend family parties, I tend to kind of just go crazy and eat way too much. I end the night feeling uncomfortable and bloated. Do you have any advice for how to enjoy yourself at parties where there is a lot of food but to also refrain from eating everything there (eating in moderation)?

Thank you so much!
Rachel

I can’t wait to answer Rachel’s question! I have some great advice for you all 🙂
