What does the 10/10 “YOU” look like?
A few weekends ago I sat in my backyard early in the morning before anyone else was awake and did the best visualization exercise I’ve ever done. I sat at our outdoor table, wrapped myself in a fuzzy warm blanket, lit a candle, and journaled.
I journaled about what I was grateful for, what was going well, and what I was looking forward to. In the middle of my journaling session I took a break. I sat back in my chair, closed my eyes, and gave myself the space to imagine my future self, five years from now.
Imagining my future self, I saw her at a 10/10. I mean, if you’re gonna dream, why not really dream, right? 😉
I saw myself somewhere I was happy: in my kitchen. I had short, blonde hair. It was curled. I was wearing a black cotton dress (like this one). I lived in the exact house that I’m in now. Not a thing about it had changed.
I had a little toe-head boy who was asking me questions and I was handing him blueberries (so specific, I know!). On the floor nearby, I had another little toe-head boy. He had curly hair. He was tiny, sitting in a baby chair (like this one). He looked just like Marco as a child!
Abby was a little bit older and was laying down on the floor right behind our-future-little-one’s chair. She was so comfortable. The house felt right. I explored this vision more. I looked at how I worked, how many clients I met with each week, etc… I tried to imagine what had changed.
What did my 10/10 self-care look like? What did I make time for? What did I enjoy for activity? I saw myself as a runner. Nothing huge. Nothing extreme. Just running outdoors and loving it. Happy. Fulfilled. Sort of like now, but with a few “new” things.
Since doing this vision, I have moved toward this version of myself by: hiring a coach (I blogged about why I hired a coach here – such a fun post to write!), cutting my hair and making it short and blonde (exactly as I envisioned it!), and I have also started to run and am loving it.
Here’s a photo of how I cut my hair – you guys, this is exactly what I envisioned:
Isn’t that kinda fun?!
Will everything in my vision actually happen? I don’t know. Do I believe that it’s all 100% possible? Absolutely! Is it already coming to life? 100%! Am I working toward it everyday? YES! Is that making me as happy as I envisioned? EVEN HAPPIER.
This is quite possibly the best self-care reflection I have ever done.
I’m not posting this to talk about me though. I’m posting this to get YOUR wheels spinning. I want to challenge you to do this for yourself.
Do it! Take 5-10 minutes, close your eyes, and visualize yourself five years from now. Visualize yourself at a 10/10. Just do it! What does it look like? What does it feel like? GET SPECIFIC.
My hope for you is that this will allow you to see what’s possible for you and that you will start taking steps toward this version of yourself. This isn’t about perfection, this is about fulfillment. This is about fully stepping into the assignment that you were born into this world with.
I would love love love to hear your vision, if you’re willing to share. Do it, and once you have, leave a comment! Tell me everything. What did you see? What excites you? What is different from now?
I promise you, if you connect with yourself here in a deep, meaningful way, you won’t be able to forget this vision. And if you’ll give yourself permission, you’ll start moving toward it too.
If you’d like any support in walking through this, I create a vision with every single one of my clients in their Discovery Sessions – I walk them through a future self visualization so they can just focus on the vision.
You can book a free Discovery Session with me here if you’d like support (I love doing this). If you’re already scheduled for a Discovery Session, then get excited! We’re going to have some fun!
I cannot WAIT to hear what comes up for you! EEK! Do share 🙂
